National Library Board
Under the Libraries and Archives Blueprint (LAB25), NLB has charted frameworks across 8 Learning Focus Areas (LFAs) based on research and trends of each LFA by various think tanks. Under the Digital LFA, NLB aims to prepare Singaporeans for a smart nation, empowering them to use digital technology for a better life by:
- Raising awareness of various aspects of current and emerging technology, and how it affects our lives;
- Promoting further learning and adoption;
- Empowering innovation and creation via digital technology.
The 5 Learning Outcomes for the Digital LFA are:
- Encourage curiousity and awaneness of technology;
- Learn to deal with digital information (info & media literacy);
- Understand how tech and digital platforms can improve work, business and career;
- Understand how tech and digital platforms can affect daily life;
- Drive innovation skillsets for problem solving using technology.
To achieve this, NLB supports the Digital for Life movement through regular showcases at the annual Digital for Life Festival, digital and tech workshops and programmes on emerging tech topics such as GenAI and Machine Learning, and the promotion of information literacy through S.U.R.E.
