Is your child ready for their first social media account? When is the right age to introduce social media to your child?
Social media can open doors for connection and creativity, but it also comes with risks such as cyberbullying and grooming. Teens need to understand the impact of their digital footprints on their future, how to interact respectfully online, and what to do when things go wrong.
This session helps parents navigate this digital milestone with confidence. We'll explore how to assess your teen’s readiness, ways to support them through common challenges, and how to model responsible posting yourself.
What we'll cover
- Is your teen ready? How to assess readiness and have open and honest conversations about social media and trends
- Setting expectations and establishing rules for respectful, kind behaviour online
- Digital footprints have a big impact on your teen’s future. Help them think before posting and understand online reputation.
- Modelling good habits such as responsible posting as a parent, including avoiding ‘sharenting’.
This session is brought to you by Digital for Life, in collaboration with Cyberlite.
